WAXING TOP TIPS

You might feel nervous about your upcoming appointment if this is your first wax or you have been waxing for a while. Waxing can be painful, but it can be worthwhile if you are able to say goodbye to razors and enjoy smooth, hairless skin for a few more weeks.

What are the magic rules and do’s of waxing?

Know what to query for

You need to be able to identify what you should ask when you go to get your eyebrows and bikini shaped. To ensure you get the best results, do some research online.

Our blog, What to wax? will help you distinguish your Hollywood from your Hollywood. This beginners guide to waxing will help you understand the terminology and make your first appointment confident.

Start Small

You might be hesitant to do a full body wax if you’re a beginner. You can start with a lighter wax and if it works, you can go back for more.

Get Exfoliating

Regular exfoliation will make your skin feel great. You will get better results and avoid ingrowing hairs.

Invest in a good moisturizer

Your skin will stay soft and smooth if it is well hydrated.

Do Not Shave or Trim Before a Wax

Although it may seem obvious, it will be easier for your beauticians to remove hair that is longer. This will ensure that the hair is removed at its root. A waxing length of 1/4 to 1/2 inch is the ideal. The closer you can get to 1/2 inch, the coarser your hair.

Pop a Painkiller

To reduce pain, you can take an over-the-counter painkiller like paracetamol or Ibuprofen 45 minutes before your appointment. Avoid taking aspirin. It will cause increased blood flow, and thus increase pain.

Time it Right

Waxing can be more painful during certain months. If you’re waxing to celebrate a special event, don’t book your appointment until you have your period. You will notice that waxing can be more painful if you have periods.

Avoid Caffeine and Alcohol

Although this may seem bad news to some, it will make your experience much more pleasant and less painful if you avoid caffeine and alcohol for at least two days prior to your appointment. A hangover can be very bad, but having a hangover and wax is a different story.

Don’t Exercise Prior to Waxing

Normaly, we would encourage the gym bunny within us all, but not after a waxing session. Your waxing experience will be more painful because exercise increases circulation. Save your next trip to the gym.

Before You Wax, Don’t Use a Shower or Bath.

You hair will feel softer and less likely to break. However, you should make sure that any areas you need to wax are cleaned – wet wipes work great!

Different waxes require different temperatures. Higher temperatures will generally be more painful. To ensure you have the best possible experience and to keep it as painless as possible, we only use Lycon wax.

Sensitive Soul

Before you start waxing, you must inform your beautician if you have skin allergies, eczema or skin sensitivity. You may need to avoid using eczema creams and drugs. It may be worth asking your stylist to do a patch test if you suspect you might have skin problems. If you have concerns, talk to your salon.

Its Your Body

If you are uncomfortable with the way your wax is moving, just stop and walk away.

Always Choose a Professional

While there are many DIY waxing products available, they will not give you the same results as professional waxes. Not only do they have the expertise and experience, but they are also trained in painless waxing. Professional waxing london is almost always worth the price of gold. So, go to your local salon and have a chat.
