How to Create a Skincare Routine that is Face-Saving and Age-Defying

The sheer number of products available can make skincare overwhelming and even confusing. Many men don’t have a skincare routine. Maybe this is why they don’t want the time or effort to create one. Maybe they don’t care. You, , should take care of them. A good skincare is one the best tools we have to combat most common problems men face: skin issues, wrinkles and even sun damage. It could make a difference in the long-term between someone saying “Wow, you look great!” and “Oh, are you getting enough sleep?”

It takes more than simply washing your face with the soap you have and hoping for a miracle. Like all worthwhile endeavors, it requires consistency, care, and commitment. You will also need to experiment until you find the best products. This is why I am here. It is safe and nobody expects you to be able to tell the difference between hyaluronic and niacinamide in a matter of hours.

Step 1: Facial Cleanser
We are conditioned to think of clean skin as dry and squeaky-clean. However, this is actually a sign you have over-cleansed your skin. This means that your skin’s protective layer has been damaged and that good oils have been stripped away from it. Use a specific facial cleanser for your skin type. Look for a cleanser that is moisturizing if you have dry skin. If you have oily skin, a gel cleanser should contain oil-controlling ingredients such as salicylic acid. For best results, use your cleanser both morning and evening.

Step 2: Apply eye cream
Eye cream can be described as the Swiss Army knife of skin care: It’s simple and can solve a lot of problems. Are you concerned about dark circles? This can help you get rid of them. What happens to puffy bags left behind by a late-night rager? You can even send them packing. Are you starting to notice wrinkles and fine lines? Eye cream can keep you looking fresh. Because the skin on your eyes is thinner than that of the rest, it requires more concentrated ingredients and can lose moisture easily. Even if you don’t use any other products, you can start using an eye cream every morning and evening after cleansing.

Step 3: Moisturizer
My biggest complaint about men who don’t use moisturizer is their discomfort with how it feels on the skin. That’s what I get. I get that feeling. It’s easy to find a moisturizer that you can tolerate. At the minimum, it will help keep your skin moisturised for years to come. If you are a beginner, look for words such as “gel” or “lotion” on the label. Apply it after you have applied your eye cream for moisture.

Step 4: SPF
The last step is the most important. You must use sunscreen every single day, regardless of your skin tone. Seriously. The sun’s UV rays, which we all see every day, are the main cause of skin cancer and the largest factor in skin aging. Daily sunscreen is the best anti-aging product that we have. Most men don’t use it because it isn’t as effective as moisturizer. This is no excuse. Look for sunscreens with skin-hydrating ingredients, and not just a moisturizing moisturizer. This will allow you to wear the sunscreen over your moisturizer (more is better), or just on its own, such as when it’s really hot.
