In 6 Easy Steps, Your Skin Care Routine
STEP 1 – CLEANSER
It is important to properly cleanse your skin. This helps remove impurities from your skin and the environment. (Yes, pollution affects your skin.) For normal to oily skin, we recommend Papaya Enzyme and Gentle Soothing. These are great for sensitive or dry skin. You can use a cleanser in the mornings if you are doing a morning workout or just want to clean your skin before applying makeup. You can also substitute gentle towels or micellar water if you are concerned about irritation to your skin. It’s a good idea to exfoliate your skin a few times per week. Our polishing charcoal mask Clay Time is our recommendation.
STEP 2 TONER
You don’t have to worry if this step was skipped in the past or if you haven’t used a moisturizer since your teens. This step can be used to address specific skin issues, such as active breakouts or the appearance of pores. Don’t worry, today’s toners don’t sting as harshly as the ones you used in your teens. Our best-selling Crystal Clear clarifying pad is recommended to treat all skin types, including acne, darkening, large pores, hyperpigmentation, and signs of aging such as dullness, small pores, pigmentation, and other conditions. Crystal Clear should be used as a weekly micropeel for sensitive skin. Oily skin can use it 1-2x per day (AM or PM) depending on your schedule.
STEP 3 EYES
Your skin around your eyes can be more delicate than that of the rest of your skin. Therefore, it is important to choose a product which is gentle but still addresses your primary concerns such as wrinkle prevention, puffiness, or dark circles. Eye-Sculpt is a gel that absorbs quickly and can be used in AM or PM. Eye Sculpt, like our Youth Serum is packed with peptides and hyaluronic acids to reduce puffiness, dark circles, and minimize fine lines. This product is suitable for all skin types. It absorbs quickly and can be used before applying makeup.
STEP 4 – SERUMS
Serums nourish the skin and promote healing. They are applied before moisturizers to ensure maximum absorption. Make sure you choose a serum that delivers the right amount of ingredients for your skin type. You may need to use a serum morning and night if you have severely damaged skin.
Our Youth Serum is our favorite, as well as our Glow factor. Our Youth Serum’s hyaluronic and peptides provide intense hydration, noticeable plumping, and our Glow Factor’s vitamin complex helps to repair and create new collagen. Glow Factor contains active vitamins in powder form. You can play chemist and add it to the liquid! It contains the ideal amount of antioxidants to replenish and brighten your skin. It can be used every morning in place of your Youth Serum to brighten your skin and reduce wrinkles.
The Night Watch is an effective, yet gentle treatment that improves skin texture, refines pores, and reduces the appearance dark spots and wrinkles. Packed with HPR, vitamins C and E, stearic acid and melatonin, this proprietary formula offers all the benefits of a prescription-strength retinol — and none of the irritation.
STEP 5 MOISTURIZER
You’ll need a lotion that absorbs quickly, and can be used as a base for makeup in the morning. We love our Brightening Oil. Brightening Lotion is suitable for all skin types. It uses natural skin brighteners and botanical extracts to give you the glowing, radiant skin you desire. This lotion is gentle enough to be used every day. It hydrates the skin and smoothens and brightens the complexion.
Brightening Lotion can be used as a night moisturizer, but if you have sensitive skin or are prone to dryness, we recommend face whip. This lightweight, whipped moisturizer is powered by ceramides as well as hyaluronic acids. It hydrates, plumps and smooths wrinkles. This AM and PM can be used instead of Brightening lotion for extra dry or sensitive skin types.
We recommend adding a SPF product to your skin-care routine if you have been relying solely on your moisturizer or makeup for sun protection.
STEP 6 SUNSCREEN
Our answer to patients is always the same: Sunscreen. Preventive care is the best form of skin care. Applying sunscreen to your skin on a daily basis, no matter what age, is the best way to protect it from sun damage and other signs of aging. There are options available for all skin types. Our favorites are 100% mineral tinted SPF and Sheer Defence SPF. For oily skin types, Sheer Defense is better than 100% Mineral Tinted SPF.
You should not be exposed to direct sunlight throughout the day, and this applies to all seasons. You’ll need to apply your sunscreen every two hours or once it has been rinsed with water. Remember that the SPF in your makeup doesn’t count as a reapplication because you aren’t likely to apply enough makeup to reap the benefits of the SPF.
