Are you tired of using a skincare routine that doesn’t work? These are 6 Steps to Make Your Skin Look Great Every Day, Night and Morning.

Morning skincare routine
Step 1: Cleanse
Cleanse your face every morning to remove any oil, dirt or sweat that has accumulated on your pillow. For general use, the American Academy of Dermatology recommends an non-abrasive, alcohol-free cleanser.

Surprise! There is an right way you can wash your face. AAD suggests that you first wash your face with warm water. Then, use your fingertips to apply the cleanser. You should not use a sponge or washcloth to apply the cleanser. Next, rinse the skin with warm water and dry it with a towel.

Step 2: Apply sunscreen
Sunscreen use daily is an important step in preventing skin cancer. It also prevents premature signs of aging such as wrinkles or dark patches. Broad-spectrum sunscreen (protects against both UVA and UVB radiations) is recommended by the AAD. It should have an SPF of 30 or more (filters out 97% UVB rays).

It is important to properly apply sunscreen–apply an evenly-sized layer (think about the size of a shotglass) to your skin, and all other exposed areas throughout the day. Remember to apply sunscreen at least twice a day while outside.

Step 3: Hydrate, replenish and rehydrate
You can choose what you use after applying sunscreen.

“Truthfully, many moisturizers work in a similar way as they nourish the skin. Hyaluronic acid products are my favorite because they moisturize quickly. But, it all depends on how well your body takes them.

Step 1: Take off your makeup
“Making up makeup, especially foundation, can be like painting a layer of paint on your skin. If you are laying on it or rolling on your pillow, particularly if your skin is sweaty at night, this is just dirt and grime building up in your pores.

Look for a makeup remover that dissolves makeup without the use of alcohol or fragrances. This will help to avoid skin irritation. Micellar water is recommended by dermatologists because it effectively removes dirt, oil, and makeup from pores. It also keeps skin hydrated.

Step 2: Gently clean
Follow the same guidelines for your morning cleanse to wash away the day. Gentle is your key word.

Don’t wait to wash your face after a morning, or midday, workout. All skin types can be irritated by sweat, not just sensitive skin. When you sweat, wipe your face with a towel and then wash your skin.

Step 3: Hydrate, replenish and rehydrate
Applying a light, non-comedogenic (non pore clogging), moisturizer to your skin before bed can help if it feels dry. For nighttime skin care, you can use retinol or retinal aldehyde (or retinyl esters), which have a long list of nurturing benefits. These include promoting cell turnover and improving skin tone and discoloration. They also reduce wrinkles and lines.
